Ole Iverson was born in Iowa. He joined Iowa 6th Cavalry Company D. The army listed him as living in Decorah, Winneshiek County, IA and age 18.
Iverson enlisted on October 8, 1862, and mustered on October 18, 1862 as a Private (Menig). He mustered out on October 17, 1865 in Sioux City, IA. After the war, he married in 1866 to Mary Danielsdatter.
