Halvor Halvorson was born “Halvor Halvorsen Doxrød” on June 19, 1835 at Gjerpen, Norway, the son of Halvor Engebregtsen Doxrød and Anne Marie Eriksdatter Brekke. He came to America with his parents and six siblings on “Argo”, which sailed from Havre, France, and arrived in NY on July 26, 1843. They came to Norway Township, Racine County, WI. He joined the WI 15th Infantry. He died in Andersonville Prison, GA on October 11, 1864.
