Martin A. Brown joined TX 15th Infantry Company D. CSA. Born “Martin Andreas Brun Abrahamsen” on 15 Aug 1844 at St. Pedersgjerde, Stavanger, Norway. Employed as a gunsmith at the armory in Tyler, TX. Civil War: Enlisted at Velasco, TX, 30 Oct 1864. Private. The Regiment surrendered on 2 Jun 1865. Post war: He died 25 Nov 1933 in Bosque County, TX, at which time he was said to have been the last surviving Norwegian Confederate veteran.
