Carl Torbensen was from Sauland, Telemarken, Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry. The army listed him as living in Muskego, Wisconsin and age 20. He enlisted on November 28, 1861 as a Corporal (Korporal). He was wounded in three battles, including Chickamauga. A veteran of this name living in Castle Rock, Dakota County, Minnesota, was granted a pension of $4 a month because of a gun shot wound to his right forearm. In 1907, he was living in Minot, North Dakota.
