Hans Thompson joined the IL 15th Cavalry, Company L. The army listed him as living in Earlville, La Salle County, Illinois, born in Norway, a Farmer, and age 21. He had blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, and 5’7”. He enlisted for three years on February 12, 1862 and mustered the same day as a Private (Menig). He transferred to Tenth Cavalry Consolidated and was unassigned.
