Presented by Laura Kovarik
Laura Kovarik has been involved in genealogy for more than thirty years. Her experience includes leadership, educational, and committee positions with societies at the international, national, state, and local levels. Laura has been providing educational opportunities for genealogists for over twenty years. These range from local presentations to inclusion on the faculty at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG). She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), the National Genealogical Society, Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS), the Norwegian American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library (NAGCNL), and other local genealogical and historical societies. She currently serves on the Long-Range Planning Committee and the Membership Committee for APG. Laura has written several books and articles using material from her family archive. Her writing has appeared in Fox Tales, The Quarterly and Norwegian Tracks.
Laura works as a professional genealogist with focus on Illinois and Norwegian research, newspapers, and organizing family archives. Laura has expanded her education through conferences, institutes and workshops. Most recently, she has earned certificates from the Center for Collections Care at Beloit College for collection management, policy, and care.
