Helje Larsen was born on the Tysdal farm and left the Årdal parish in April 1853, from the Helgeslandshougen farm.  His parents and siblings followed in 1854, 1855, and 1856.

Henry Lewis joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company E. The men of the company called themselves “Odin’s Rifles.” The army listed him as living in Perry, Dane County, WI, age 36, and married. He enlisted for three years on October 28, 1861, in Dane County, and mustered on December 8, 1861, at Madison, WI, as a Corporal (Korporal). He was discharged from the service for disability at Camp near Murfreesboro, TN, on April 9, 1863, by order of Major General Rosecrans.

Helge Larson marired Gurie Olsdatter in Dane County, WI, in 1855.  They had at least two children, Anne/Annie H. (1855-1935) and Ole H. (1860-1928). His widow, Julia, filed a pension in his name in 1872.
