Christian Ingebretson was born in Norway to Ingebret Christiansen and Ragnild. They immigrated in 1854 to WI. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company D. The men of the company called themselves the “Norway Wolf Hunters.” They were also known as the “Waupun Company” because so many of its members were from Waupun, WI.

The army listed Ingebretson as living in Strongs Prairie, Adams County, WI, age 33, a farmer, and unmarried. He had black eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, and stood 5’6½”. He enlisted for three years on November 2, 1861 at Strongs Prairie and mustered at Madison, WI on December 8, 1861 as a Private (Menig). He died in the hospital at Camp Randall, Madison, WI on February 17, 1862.
