Ole Erickson was born in Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company E. The men of the company called themselves “Odin’s Rifles.”

The army listed Erickson as living in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI, a farmer, and age 25. He had blue eyes, blond hair, sandy complexion, and stood 5’9½”. He enlisted for three years on February 26, 1864 at La Crosse, and mustered there the same day as a Private (Menig). He joined E Company at Knoxville, TN. He was killed by a gunshot in the battle of New Hope Church, GA on May 27, 1864.
