Knud Erickson was born in Norway about 1828 to Knud and Anne Erickson. On October 1, 1860, he married Anne Hanson in Barrie (now Barre Mills), La Crosse County, WI. She was born in 1837 in Norway to Kittel and Dagus Hanson.

He joined I Company of the WI 13th Infantry. The army listed him as living in Barrie, La Crosse County, WI, age 36, a farmer, and married. He had blue eyes, light hair, sandy complexion, and stood 5’6”. He enlisted for three years on January 7, 1864 at La Crosse, and mustered there the same day as a Private. He transferred here from WI 15th Company B (D?) on June 11, 1865. He mustered out on November 24, 1865 at San Antonio, TX.

After the war in 1870, Knud and Anne were living in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI. Their children were Edward (1859), Eaton (1862), Albert (1865), Jacob (1866), Daniel (1867), Emma (1868), and Jennie (1870). Knud worked as a shoemaker.
