Elias Christopherson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G. The men of his company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.”

The army listed Christopherson as living in Primrose, Dane County, WI, age 17, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on November 26, 1861 at Primrose, and mustered at Madison, WI on December 11, 1861 as a Private (Menig). He was sick in Bridgeport, AL on September 13, 1863. He served with the provisions transport from Stevenson, AL in October 1863. On October 20, 1863 and February 24, 1864, he was sick. Christopherson suffered a severe wound in his right arm while near Atlanta, GA on July 21, 1863. He was sent to the hospital at an unknown date. He was wounded again at New Hope Church, GA on May 27, 1864. He mustered out with Company G on January 13, 1865 at Chattanooga, TN. Elias filed a pension on March 15, 1875.
