Thomas Parker was born in Tennessee. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G. The men of the company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.”

The army listed him as living in Troy, Obine County, TN, a farmer, and age 18. He had gray eyes, brown hair, light complexion, and stood 5’6”. Parker enlisted for three years at Mississippi River Island No. 10, on July 15, 1863, and mustered there the same day as a Private (Menig). He was with the provision transport from Stevenson, AL in October 1863. Parker was in the hospital and transferred to Veteran Reserve Corps on April 28, 1864. He mustered out August 26, 1865.
