Join NAGC and instructor Martha Frey in this new reading group to explore the life of novelist, journalist, and newspaper publisher Waldemar Ager. We will be reading his historical novel Sons of the Old Country, a story about coming to western Wisconsin in the 1850’s. Explore the challenges faced by our immigrant ancestors and learn about the life of Waldemar Ager. Class will conclude with an optional trip to the Waldemar Ager historic house in Eau Claire. Each student will be sent a copy of Sons of the Old Country to read before the first class.

Class Dates: Tuesday, February 4, 2025 , Tuesday, February 11, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, trip to Eau Claire – Tuesday April 1, 2025

Location: NAGC. 415 W Main St, Madison, WI 53703

Time: 9:30 am -11:30 am (with social time before and midway through class)

Class size: Limited to 10 students to facilitate discussion

Parking: Free off-street parking is available at NAGC
