Nils Anderson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company B. The men of the company called themselves the “Wergeland Guards” in honor of Henrik Wergeland, the famous Norwegian writer and poet.
The army listed Anderson as living in Berlin, WI. He enrolled on November 8, 1863. He moved to the 8th Battalion WI Light Artillery on July 29, 1863. He was absent from the battery at time of discharge.
