Christopher Peterson joined the WI 25th Infantry, Company D. He was born in Norway, worked as a farmer, age 31, and unmarried. Blue eyes, dark hair, florid complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years on January 8, 1864 at Sparta, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Peterson mustered on January 16, 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin as a Private (Menig). He was a recruit with a bounty of $300 who joined the company on March 18, 1864. Peterson was absent in hospital in Washington, D.C. on June 2, 1865 and did not return to his company until April 1, 1865.
