Wondering where your great-grandparents were born in Norway?  Unsure why the family seems to have changed its last name?  We encourage everyone interested in studying his or her Norwegian heritage to use our collection!

In-House Research

NAGC is located at 415 W. Main St. in Madison, WI.  All are welcome to browse our collection during regular business hours:

The NAGC is a private, non-profit organization and therefore charges research fees.  Members may use the facility at no charge.  (Visit our Membership Page to learn more about member benefits.)  In-depth research help for members is $20 per hour.  Non-members pay a daily $15 use fee.  In-depth research help for non-members is $35 per hour.  Parking is available behind our building.

Research by Mail

Those who are unable to come to Madison may write to us requesting genealogical research by our professional researchers. 

The price of mail research for members is $20 per hour plus copy fees.  For non-members, mail research is $35 per hour plus copy fees.  You may request as many research hours as you wish.  We do require a pre-payment of $50 from members and $80 from non-members, which must accompany your mail research request.

If you wish to apply for membership as well, you may download and print our Membership Application to accompany your research request. 

We receive many research requests throughout the year, which means that your request will be placed in a queue and answered on a first-come, first-served basis.  We try very hard to respond to research requests within two months.

Online Shop.  Along with the extensive collection of research materials available for use at the NAGC, there are also materials available for purchase, such as books, maps and resource guides.
