Rick Steves Lecture “Travel as a Political Act” at Wisconsin Union Theater (Shannon Hall)

November 15, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Guidebook author, travel television host, newspaper columnist and overall European travel expert Rick Steves has lived out of a suitcase for over 30 years. Considering himself “a citizen of this planet”, Steves’ countless experiences discovering unknown places and sharing them with others have redefined his opinions of travel and community. In Travel as a Political Act, Steves explains how his travels have broadened his perspectives and opinions on drug policy reform, the role of government and America’s place in relation to the rest of the world. Through anecdotes and satirical humor, Steves sheds light on his reality of American travel in relation to politics.

Testimonials

“Hi Jerry, When I visited NAGC&NL a few months ago, you gave me info for planning my first trip to Norway, including the address of an official to contact in advance.  I wrote, as you suggested, and enclosed copies of historical documents from a volume at NAGC&NL.  I thought you might like to see the helpful response I received today.  My husband and I are taking an independent drive-and-hike tour arranged by Borton Overseas, the agency I learned about at NAGC&NL.  Thanks again for all your help. The message from Norway:Since I am the editor of the Farm and Family History books I know most of the families and places of living, however I am also interested to know how the family history is known in your family already. Please give me the names of relationship between you and Erik. I am sure the visit here in Sogn and Luster Co. will be unforgettable! Greetings from Gaupne in Luster Commune.”

- Ginny (Wisconsin)
