Endowments

For over 30 years, donors have been committed to insuring the future of the NAGC, through memberships, donations, volunteer work, gifts-in-kind, and by building the endowments that are put to work in perpetuity to produce income for the work of the Center. New endowments are usually created from donations of $25,000 or more, whether such important gifts are made at one time, or over a period of years. Here is a short description of the endowments that support the NAGC. We invite you to consider adding your donation of any size to one of the Center's existing endowments. Or you may wish to discuss your plans to create a named endowment with a specific scope and purpose that may honor an ancestor or loved one, creating in perpetuity an important source of support for the Center's work.

The Norwegian American Genealogical Center Endowment

This investment fund produces income each year for operating support. This endowment is made up of funds donated from a variety of sources, including several bequests.

The Naeseth Chair Endowment for Genealogical Research and Publication

Donors recognizing the important work in research and publication carried out by the Naeseth Chair at NAGC have built this endowment over the years, the income from which supports the expenses of research and publication of the five-volume biographical dictionary of Norwegian immigrants to the United States.

The NAGC Membership Endowment

The endowed fund produces income for operating each year and is made up of a portion of all life and fellow memberships that were earlier issued by the Center. At the time of these donations, a portion of the income was invested in this endowment as a perpetual source of operating support. The life and fellow categories of membership have been discontinued, but persons holding those levels of memberships have been "grandfathered" into the membership and continue to receive all the benefits of membership for their lifetimes.

Please see the membership page for information on the current levels of NAGC membership.

The Hardy Endowment for Operations

Established in 2007 by board member David J. Hardy, this endowment is invested and produces income each year for the ongoing operating expenses of the Center. The donor has also designated that these invested funds may be spent for operational needs at the discretion of the board of directors.

The Loper Endowment for North Norway Acquisitions

Established in 2007 by NAGC members Jane L. Loper and Carl R. Loper, Jr., these endowed funds are invested to produce annual income devoted to the acquisition of library research materials of Northern Norway.
