"Asbjorn Olsen Helle" was born in Valle parish, Setesdal, Norway, on September 22, 1837. Andrew Johnson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company E. The men of the company called themselves "Odin's Rifles."  The army listed him as living in Primrose, Dane County, WI, age 24, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on November 6, 1861 in Dane County, WI and mustered on December 8, 1861 at Madison, WI as a Corporal (Korporal). He was seriously wounded in the Battle at Stones River near Murfreesboro, TN on December 30, 1862 and sent to the hospital at Nashville, TN. Johnson moved to a hospital at New Albany, IN where he died on March 18, 1863 from his wounds. He was buried in New Albany Cemetery.
