Ole Haldorson was born in Valdres, Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company F. The men of the company called themselves KK's Protectors in honor of the 15th's first Lieutenant Colonel, Kiler K. Jones. “F” was also known as the Valdres Company because a large number of its members hailed from the Valdres region of Norway.

The army listed Haldorson as living in Gjerpen, Manitowoc County, WI, age 20, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on February 5, 1862 at Manitowoc. He mustered on February 11, 1862 at Madison, WI as a Private (Menig). He was taken prisoner in the Battle of Chickamauga, GA on September 20, 1863. He died in Andersonville prison of nerve fever on July 21, 1864. He was buried in grave 3720. Haldorson was on the Roll of Honor of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps.
