Frank Drum joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company D. The men of the company called themselves the “Norway Wolf Hunters.” They were also known as the “Waupun Company” because so many of its members were from Waupun.

The army listed him as living in Madison, Dane County, WI, age 20, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on February 2, 1862 at Madison, and mustered there on March 21, 1862. He was appointed company musician on February 21, 1862 as a Private (Menig). He was discharged from the service for disability from the camp at Jacinto, MS on July 22, 1862.
