Ole Anderson was born in Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company I. The men of the company called themselves the “Scandinavian Mountaineers” but were also known as the “Waupaca Company” because so many of them were living in that WI county when they enlisted.

The army listed Anderson as living in Dunkirk, Dane County, WI, age 38, a farmer, and married. He had brown eyes, sandy hair, light complexion, and stood 6’. He enlisted for three years on December 8, 1863 at Dunkirk, and mustered on January 8, 1864 at Madison, WI as a Private (Menig). He transferred here from WI 15th Infantry, Company B on June 11, 1865. He mustered out on November 24, 1865 at San Antonio, TX.
